A fried of ours has just bought a new caravan and required storage when not in use.

After a large search he found a spot under cover which costs £15 per week.

Is this a lot?

I think so - the last I heard prior to this was under cover for about £8

Phil

I guess it goes off how good the security is and if it is certified or not. And if there is no others in the area they can charge what they like!!

Yes but if £780 per year means that he does not have to move house then i think it may be a bargain especialy with the way house prices are right now. Does he have room to store it himself?

No Rob - he lives in a terraced and has to have storage.

I'm lucky in that sense as ours fits down the drive - just. And the back garden is 60ft long. Unfortunately not enough extra space to offer a spot to my mate!

8 foot drive and 7ft 6ins caravan.

I use the front towbar on the Discovery and can put it on a sixpence.

So for him £780 a year is a good as he does not have to move house. If i did not have the achre we have i would probably have to put it in storage too. But then again it is a bit of a blot on our land.

I thought your caravan was quite pretty to be honest - and I don't give complements away too easily especially as I think mine and Gavs are probably the best looking vans around.

But of course I'm a bit biased...

Hi Both,
I pay just over £220 per year but I am not undercover. I am going to purchase a caravan cover shortly & they are about £130 but thats a one off cost as long as I keep the same size van. So in comparison your quote seems alot of money.... Confused

Sorry Gareth it was your caravan and mine I was referring to not Gavs. Puddled in my old age!

But that all said and done I suppose Gavs ain't too bad either.

The covers by the way can be bought for less than 130.

Not sure what towsures prices are at the mo but I think it was riversway leisure where the cheapest from their online stuff rather than from the shop direct

Try Ebay we need to have the largest size which is 22 / 23 ft on last reckoning.

Hi i got a cover with ours when it came, i have read the instructions one covering for our van and it says to remove it and give it an air every 6 weeks, in the winter that may be hard work.

I will give it a try this winter as i have never used a cover before.

They say you should use a couple of brooms to lift it up and over.

Also to stop the sharp pieces from pushing holes in it use milk cartons cut to size to cover the sharp protrusions.

Thanks Phil.
I know they are available cheaper just not started shopping around yet, need to go and earn some money before I can get it. I understand you can get custom made cover which have a slot for the door in the right place and thats what I am really after. I don't want to faf around taking the hole thing off just to get inside the van to check everything is ok in the winter.

I figured two of us and a set of steps will hopefully do it. The milk cartons are a great idea though.
