Is damp a really bad thing or can it be dealt with quite hassle free and cheaply?

I would say use common sense on the towing part, if there is bits falling off then no dont tow. Do you think you are up to the chalenge of fixing it yourself?

And you say it is not damp now is that inside the van or have you had some pannels off?

There is nothing falling off and i have had a closer look today and it only seems to be a minor case to be honest the frame around the effected area is still sound. Also had a go at fixing the cause (which was a lot messier than i thought it would be ) took the front top rail off from above the windows and oh my god all sorts of crap had been used to try and seal it in a previous bodge so it was a case of remove as much of the old crap a good wipe down with some white spirits and application of the fresh adhesive and some sealant just for good measure hopefully thats it sorted and maybe in time i will get round to replacing the very small panel of ply wood on the inside.

Got a friend who had to pull out an entire panel inside the Caravan, reseal the outside and then rebuild the inside.

Took them a lot of work but did a very good job.

When he traded it in the dealer asked if he had any damp problems as the type of van was susceptible to dampness, he just said no. Even the dealer didn't spot the repair work.

Hope you manage to fix it.

Paul
