No you can have the battery disconnected but make sure the terminals for the battery connections are safe from contact with anything metal, some vans 12v systems don't work without a battery (I may be wrong) so you will have to test it.

How long are you leaving the fridge on for to test it as it takes 24 hours to come down to temp, as you are new to this van have you removed the outside winter vent covers for the fridge?

The 12v switch is only used when you are towing your caravan and have the grey connector in use.

Hi firebladephil

I would advise you to keep the battery in the system ( as most hand books state ) sorry Rob Embarassed

With the battery connected any surges ( high /quick demands of 12 volt ) the battery will absorb the extra load
Also should the mains trip out say during the night you will still have power for the lights etc for that important tip to the toilet are having a few beers

If you do not have the hand book contact Kelly Bailey customer services always very helpful

Regards

you should have a battery in the circit or the charger will be working flat out all the time trying to charge a battery that is not there it can be a car battery as they are cheaper but you must have something there

If you have a battery another reeason to keep it there is that you will keep it charged and help keep its like.

If you take a look at my site below there is a section on the leisure battery which will help, but not answer all you questions.

Regarding the fridge I would certainly try and see if you can get a manual for it from either Bailey or the manufacturer.

Paul
