Hi All

Al-ko secure wheel locks

Having a slight problem using the above lock, the operation of the special key in the barrel was sticking I had to wedge the barrel with a pen knife blade and then try to get the key to operate the lock . Holding the lock barrel in my hand the key operation was still notchy even after lubricating with sewing machine oil

Phone calls

Telephoned Al-ko who then referred me to Lowe and Fletcher

Lowe and Fletcher their the switch board girl wanted to sell me a new lock and I then had to post my faulty lock to them for investigation. If faulty they would return the original lock and refund the price of the temporary lock plus all postage
Not a happy bunny and tolled her so
I was then given a direct line telephone number to one of teir tech people and we reached a compromise

Bottom line is :-
The security kit in the plastic case is supplied by Lowe and Fetcher in a sealed box to Al-ko
All registration of the kits go's to Lowe and Fletcher via the Al-ko web site

are they the locks that go over the wheels? the ones that require the wheels to line up? I read that they we quite fiddly to fit.

Hope you get it sorted under warranty

Thanks for letting us all know Dave.

Just goes to show how well these warranty issues work.

Paul

Hi Rob

Yes the Al-Ko secure that fit into the spokes of the alloy wheels

They are a pain to fit
Not to bad on a single Axel helped by a motor mover with a soft start

Twin Axel :- have to chock one pair of wheels release the hand break, then jack up the opposite, side turn each wheel to the correct position fit the locks then apply the hand break

removal of locks
Some times the lock can be removed with out jacking up the van depends if the wheel moves slightly after the locks are fitted and the van lowered

If a 4 wheel drive mover is fitted then the Al-Ko jacking point is removed to allow the fitting of the mover

So its down to using the a small trolley jack back to the old days

Embarassed

Dave

I have been deperately trying to get one of these locks from Al-ko but they are so inefficient. They don't have the one I want and don't know when it will be in. Having read these comments I don't think I will bother and just get a normal one. Doesn't make any difference to my insurance apparently anyway! Will save £200!
Have also seen people struggling with them on site.
