If it is the one on the tripod i would make sure you tiw it down with guy ropes as it blows over in the wind.

I bet you will find you hardly use it, unless you need to get to them soaps that everyone loves

HI Rob
not sure if its got a tripod i know it has a sucker thing for the window, which i dont intend to try as prob fall off and take my window with it lol.

We bought a new status aerial and its utter rubbish so we were going to try the satellite to see if we got abetter picture, not one for soaps but the rest of the family like sky one, dont watch much tv in the van but its handy when its wet and cold for the evnings if we go away on our own

What status did you buy? the 530 range is by far the best!!

The only thing i notice with sat in the MH was you always had to park away from the trees to use it.

Give it a go but my advice is replace the status with the 530 model you can get a long pole version 530/10 or a short pole version 530/5 then sell your new one on ebay!!

Watching this post for updates with interest as hubby has talked about getting satelite fow a while now.

I personally don't like the idea of a great big satelite dish outside the van but may end up beingover ruled Sad

If i do put one on our CV i will go for >> THIS << as it has no poles it can be hiden on the roof of the van and looks very neat on the inside with just a winding plate visable.

I have had a Lidls satellite set in a box for several years now and I am
extremely satisfied with it.

I have used it from Land's End to John o' Groats, all over Wales and also
whilst touring France Germany and Holland.

It has always worked perfectly. Just ensure that you can see the South
Eastern Sky without buildings, mountains or thick trees in the way.

I often find that I can set the dish up inside the caravan (at the window)
or inside the awning (if the caravan is not between the dish and the S.E.
You can also clamp the dish to a rail or attach it by suckers to the roof.

You do not receive Sky progs. only free to air ones. You can pick up all if not most satellites but I only use Astra and get all the BBC TV except Channel 5. I also get ITV and various other film channels.
The list of progs can be seen on the Astra website.

Good post and welcome to CF.

Thanks. Razz

do you keep the dish in the awning?

I put it where it works best. I prefer it in the awning as it does
not advertise its presence and is less likely to be stolen.

Whilst caravanning lst week at St David's C&CC site I took this
picture of the sat. dish.

How much would you expect to pay for a dish and I expect they would be compatible with the receiver we have at home?

Thanks Rob, I think we'll stick to the wee aerial we have as I don't think I could justify £1500 for a system!
