Whale pumps have a two wire connection, flat figure 8 wire, one wire has a small raised line. Which wire is positive? does the polarity matter? Having spent £30 I dont want to burn it out after a few uses,
My thanks to anyone who answers.

Hi leonips

I would connect the stripped wire to the positive connection The pump will not burn out

If connected the wrong way :-
The impeller will run in the wrong direction, therefore the water pressure will be poor

Your easiest option is to use a multimeter. If you haven't got one then they can be bought for around £10 upwards.

Once you have one you will use it eery now and then and wonder why you didn't buy one before.

I have 3 now that I have colelcted over the years and for these sorts of jobs is invaluable.

Good luck.

Paul

Paul, holding the pump in your hand there are two wires coming from it, the question is which wire do you connect to the positive feed from the van.
both wires are identical apart from a small raised line in the moulding, if you have this type of pump look for yourself. I was concerned that although it appears to work whichever way connected. My concern was that it would burn out if left wrongly connected.
Thanks anyway for contributing.

Have you checked out their websiteWebsite as I know they have some technical documents on there for installations etc.

Also I'm sure that they would give some good advice / help with a quick phone call or email.

Let us know how you get on.

Paul
