We did see a 1988 Monza 4 berth at Wandahome (South Cave). It was very solid and dry and had cassette toilet, how water etc etc. It was brown, but I could of lived with that. The only thing that put me off was the dealer themselves. I know you expect to pay a little more, but this was up for £1195. As the salesman gave us the keys he said "you can have it for a grand". After looking round it, we decided a grand was a bit steep so we'd offer him a cash deal of £800 - take it away right there and then. Saleman said no, its def got to be a grand and he had other people considering buying it at a grand. After explaining that other people were not there with cash ready to buy, he still wasn't interested, so we walked away. Now Sal didn't say much, but I could tell she was a bit miffed and as a bird she would of just paid the grand, but im very much a man of principle and it stood at £800 to me and I wasn't moving on that either.

You were right Kenny, it is still there, or at least it was until I bought it on Saturday... suffice to say a little time with no bite made the dealer a little more enthusiastic to deal. We took it to Pickering to try it out, its brill.

I have spent ages looking for the right one and have travelled all over. I hope the one I have bought isn't a mistake as its the first one I walked into and fell in love with around my price range.

We spent about a month looking for a caravan with a budget of 1,500 euros here in Southern Ireland.

We looked at dealers 4 hours each way and all were scruffy/damp/broken windows. I could not believe the prices asked, some up to 2250 euros Rolling Eyes We decided to only look at ones an hour away max and after looking at 12 and travelling over 600 miles we found our 1990 2 berth abi jubilee rallyman.

I checked it over very well and every cubby hole and pushed all the corners/ joins and it was perfect and totally dry Razz The interior is very clean and about 500 times better than the others we had seen. He wanted 1200 euro for it. We knocked him down to 1050 and he delivered it following us the 40 miles to our house. I dont have a towbar on my 1989 240 estate Sad It needs a few minor jobs doing all minimal and cosmetic. Catch on shower door. and repainting the oven casing as for some strange reason the top has gone rusty. Very pleased with it and only plan on using it for extra accomodation. When we entered it we knew this was the one!!

Very Happy

That sounds like a very good deal indeed! Had my fair share of troubles with buying a used caravan in the past as well so know how hard it can be to fins anything decent.

I just looked at my first caravan today that was for sale. Utter rubbish, damp along the roof, they had even bodged it with silicone and bits of wood trying to cover it up. Thing is I walked away, but there will be someone out there that will buy that!

Oh well, first of many rubbish ones for sale... the search continues.

Don't give up there are a few good ones out there, I was looking for about 2 months most were as you say utter rubbish. One dealer I went to had about 10 that were under £3000 and I said to the sailsman they wanted burning and he said they wouldn't burn they were to damp.
Got one in the end private with a full awning and in exellent condition, every thing works for £2000.
Keep looking

I do not want to provide an MOT, bald tires, rust holes and panel a dent, a blown engine, exhaust dragging on the floor, and told the salesman, this is a bargain.
