We are booked and off to Rookesbury Park very soon for our Summer holidays. We are hoping to get across to the Isle of Wight for a couple of the days we are down there. Any suggestions on what to see when down there? I was going to ask the best part of the park to look out for a pitch, but I imagine it will be pretty full anyway.

Hi, The Island is lovely - it's where my family is originally from and my parents still live there.
Depends what sort of things you like. Get a map and drive up to Culver Down just outside Sandown. There's superb views of Sandown, Shanklin, Bembridge and more up there. Haven St, Steam railway is a superb couple of hours nostalgia with a most pleasant trip along the line. Carisbrook castle is well worth a visit as is the quaint Winkle Street, with it's thatched cottages bordered by a stream. Ryde is nice for shopping, Sandown has a pier, Ventnor the semi tropical gardens. If you're there next week it's Cowes week - the highlight of the yachting season with great fireworks on the Friday night.

The very first campsite I ever stayed on was Rooksbury Park in 2003. From memory a lovely site with some parts quite secluded - or at least it was, LOL.
I didn't realise how embarrassing it was to try and reverse my 'van the first time ever there!
Anyway, hope this has been of some help.
regards
woody
