Hello Out There.

My wife and i have just joined this Forum, we spent 12 years camping once upon a time, had a short lay off and came back to Motorhoming 13 months ago. This was fine but we have decided that it's Caravanning for us, i was once called a "Born Again Biker" because i returned to Motorcycling, so our we "Born Again Caravanners" now

Ray and Wife

Welcome to you both

Good to see someone with a decent towcar for a change...... no further comments there please.

You may be born again but at least you've come back at about the best time in the history of caravanning.

Glad to have you

Phil

What made you come back to CV? I had enough of packing up every time we wanted to go anywhere.

I am slightly disabled, the Motorhome though not small was not large either, we decided the wife and i we needed more space to move around in, and i needed a bigger car to carry wheelchair etc, so it made economical and practical sense to return to caravanning. We nowe have a lovely new Caravan and Tow Car.

Is your van adapted for wheelchair use? And how are you finding the move back?

I traded my motorhome in for the caravan, luckily they owed me as the motorhome was worth slightly more than the caravan, so they put on a carvan mover and gave us the choice of a Bradcot awning up to £800.00 worth, unless the caravan falls to peices within the first 6 months, i think i got a bargain. It's not been modified for a wheelchair, i'm 6 foot 1 inch & 19 stone, so the extra room in the caravan is better for me. I'm what they call walking Disabled this means i can walk up to 100 yards, after that i' m in some discomfort. The disco is new i pick it up on Sept 1st, we traded in our Toyota which was not big enough to tow the caravan, i'm retired now on medical grounds, but i did work 43 continual years before this, so now i am going to enjoy myself.

Snap Ray

I have bladder cancer and have to use a wheelchair for all away from home activities.

I can walk about 10 yards at a shuffle but have to wheel for all other stuff.

I'm up for the big op. 2 weeks from today going back in for a month or so to Manchester (urostomy) and hope this is the answer to everything.

Off to Cardigan Bay on Saturday (18th) as a means to try and take my mind off it.

Being unable to be the breadwinner and even not being able to play with the kids for the last 2 years since I had an operation that went disastrously wrong in local Hospital. - So I empathise with you and hope you get the best from caravanning and of course your new Disco (Green with envy Grrrrr)

Caravan and driving is what I still have and enjoy although not too sure if 4 hours to Cardigan Bay from Wigan is going to be easy..

Phil Smile
