Hi all

We have returned to caravaning after 19 years, when we had a Linton 6 berth, that seemed to weigh about 20 tons fully loaded !! (joking of course)
but as it was towed by a Rover SD1 V8 it didnt matter,

Last year swmbo deceided we will get another van, and by chance we picked up a Swift 1989 silhouette 2 berth plus almost new awning with loads of usable stuff, and the caravan has hardley been used, and all for £800

This is towed by a silver Rover 75 tourer (1. Cool so if any of you members see us on site say hello to Steve And Jan !!

We have just returned from our first full mission (with Grandson) and stayed at Bunn leisure park selsey, and the only thing we forgot was the aftersun lotion,

regards

steve

Hello to one and all
I have had a caravan for the last 12 months or so and am finally getting round to sorting the interior, the good lady seems to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle so now its its time to smarten her up a bit (no i really did mean the caravan Laughing Laughing ) as we intend to keep her
its a 1991 avondale kingfisher 4 berth with an odd front end colour soon to be matched up correctly
hopefully i will be able to pick a few brains on how to do things right first time something im not that good at Embarassed Embarassed

Hello!

I'm picking up my first Caravan in just under four weeks (1994 Swift Challenger 470 behind a 1998 Audi A6) and am looking forward to having some good quality holidays with my three boys - they're all really excited. I'm a little worried as my previous towing experience is a trailer - no one told me to keep to 60 either...

I expect I'll be full of newbie questions but hopefully I'll be able to give something back at some point.

Andrew.

welcome to CF, If you are not experienced at towing take it slow to start with just because you can do 60 doesn't mean you have too. Your stopping distances are greatly increased with the van behind you too so watch out for that!!!!

Good luck i am sure you will have some great times.

Well... hopefully I've learned better since doing 80 with an unbreaked ex-'van chassis converted to a trailer (my neighbour lent it to me) - manoeuvring was fine, except three point turns...

I'm putting some research into it and hopefully I won't get caught out loading unsecured glasses into an overhead locker or sticking the awning in the rear bathroom compartment... I understand negative nose weights might be an issue... Razz

There is an almost unbearable level of excitement coming from the little people - I must admit - I'm rather looking forward to our first trip too!

Andrew.

Hi
Well where to start new to this, had a holiday last year in a caravan enjoyed it so much I wanted one for myself. I just found a wee caravan to start with its a 1993 Abbey GTS 212 2 berth for me and the wife and the dog who comes from a rescue centre so hope he settles in. Seems to be in good contition 2 owners from new the last owner had it 2 years and never used it last year, a wee bit dampness in the toilet dry to the feel it did not set of the damp meter off but have to keep a eye on it but I think he used the shower and apart from that its going in for a service just to check it over so hope nothing major with it. Looking forward to using it for the first time. (Like a brian with a new toy) Laughing
Will be looking for a lot of help or answers over the next few months but reading the old posts as not to repeat the questions.
Anyway thats me newbee
Very Happy
Forgot to add its Davie and Sheena & Charlie (Dog)

Welcome!

I've had a van for all of two-and-a-half weeks and we've already managed three nights away - loving every moment of it!

I hope you have many happy trips and enjoy the CF community.

Good evening all!.
Found this site by accident, had a nosey and joined! I used to have a lovely 1989 Lunar Clubman which I had for 2 years a few years back. I then moved to Wales, got a new partner, lost the van and it's taken me 3 years to persude the better half to give caravanning a try, LOL. (actually I've only really been bitten by the bug again for about 6 months) However we've decided to wait a couple of months before buying so we are not paying silly peak season prices for a van - we only want a fairly old one, and money is a bit tight following illness, but just cannot wait to get out there again
Forgive me if I pick a few brains and seek a few opinions over the coming weeks! Hope to chat with you all soon.
Regards,
Woody & Wanda
