Did you know...
Last year, around two million people took to the road with a caravan in tow, accounting for nearly 20 per cent of holidays taken in the UK.

John

I could quite believe it. Justa shame that we have to be taxed more because we require the 4x4's for a genuine use.

I agree. I would buy a brand new Nissan Navara tomorrow if the tax situation was not as up in the air as it is at the moment.

I love my 4x4 i use it when its needed, it gets owrked on the land i own and i get taxed to hell on it all because other people use them to drive in to cities.

I hate the tax man for that reason, i see all the farmers around me living in hard times and not getting any help from the government, If the government wanted to be that green they would be encouraging home grown fruit and veg/produce instead of taxing them out of their farms.

Rant over I for one saved many 1000s of CO2 emissions last year buy using our caravan to put 4 adults on holiday approx 6 -7 times instead of going on a plane abroad. Do i get any tax relief do i hell Sad

well mate i got to agree with you this tax is just another scam by this government for more money off the working class. i got a shogun sport now 2.5 tdi bought it a couple of months ago yes its heavy on fuel 25 around town 30 on a run. so my tax goes up to £400 next year?

my old car a 2002 ford mondeo 2ltr tdci was cheaper than most 1300 cc petrol cars coz the co2 was so low but even they have gone up a fair bit.
a bit strange for a low emission car me thinks.

the mondeo used to do 50 mpg doubleing the shogun, but for saftey and towing theres no comparison. the extra £2.00 a week i will have to pay is well worth it for the saftey aspect if nothing else

I have a Santa Fe which I bought last year now the tax will be in the £400 bracket this August.

We will be away for around 60 nights this year, often only travelling 15-25 miles to site. So why should I have to pay such a bill when someone jetting off in a plane won't pay nearly as much?

Well its basically that because of all these green issues the government has a great excuse to raise taxes to suit all the people with their green thoughts and use that money to spend elsewhere. Its just like the tax on smoking, far more tax is raised than what is needed to deal with all smoke related issues.

I know that I would rather pay tax on items where that tax goes back in to related issues. Any other tax would then be raised via income tax etc.

Paul

I agree with everything you say here apart from your example above. The TAX raised on Smoking probably doesn't even hit the tip of the iceberg, there are far to many factors in the NHS alone to say that the TAX pays for all the work done when you suffer from the ill effects of smoking.

Smoking kills you cant ever pay enough tax on them cancer sticks to cover the effects of it sorry.

I'm not condoning smoking, I wish I'd never started. But the tax raised more than covers the work that the NHS does on smoking related items. Yes I know they do a lot and I can't praise the doctors and nurses enough. What I was trying to point out is that where the government see an easy tax with a good excuse they can just keep putting it up and up.

After all what would happen on taxes if everyone did not smoke, they gave up the drink and we all drove cars that barely use any fuel at all. I suspect that the income tax woul at least double to cover what tax is currently brought in.

Tax us fairly and then a lo more people wouldn;t moan about such high taxes.

Yes it would be nice if we could run old 4x4's for the lower tax, but keeping these on the road will probably cost more than the extra tax. As the wife uses it during the daytime I have to make sure that the car is reliable.

Nice thought though.

Paul
