The noseweight should be around 7% of the tourer's MTPLM. A van with an MTPLM of 1200kg ought to have a noseweight of 84kg.

THIS IS A BAISC ASSUMPTION. Laughing

To check your exact nose weight use a set of bathroom scales & a length of wood the height from the top of the scales to the tow ball on the towing vehicle.
Then place the wood into the tow hitch, which is on the scales then wind the jockey wheel up to check the weight.

Hope this helps?

Regards,

Ian

You can also buy proper nose weight scales fro £15 upwards. They are not always easy to read the exact weight but you do get a good idea.

It is worth while checking the nose weight from time to time as things do get moved around the Caravan and the weight does change.

If your too heavy like mine can get the gas bottle goes in teh car.

Paul
