i was towing last nite in my vectra estate 2.5 v6 which dosnt normally give me any issues on towing but last nite i had 2bad snaking incidents were i got thrown from lane to lane could it have been a problem with loading? car was pretty much empty caravan had its run off mill stuff in nothing extra just been serviced so everything should be ok
i dont have a stabilser is that the problem?

A stabalizer may have helpeed, but they can just allow you a little extra so not an excuse for extra speed.
I would expect that loading would have been the biggest issue. However obviously wind and passing HGV's, ruts in the road could all cause the issue you had.
It might also be worth checking your nose weight and make sure that it around the recommended 7%.

Just a thought did you put loads of your camping stuff towards the back of the van this can cause snaking, Ive heard not enough Nose weight can cause it

I would get a stabiliser, keep any heavy items in the car, check the tyre pressures on the caravan and car also check you have the correct nose weight for the caravan and car.
