Clyde

Basically you get what you pay for. Look at spending around £300 and you should then get one with proper bars and fabric like a full size awning. You can also use a tie down the same way.

I bought a cheapy for £60 and just hope it lasts me a couple of seasons, but after around 10 rallies its certainly showing it wear.

Paul

I have a full NR porch awning it cost about £300 and is worth every penny, i don't like the easy up ones the tend to catch the wind more. To be honest if the weather is that bad i would not put the awning out in the first place but if it changes then you need to make sure you have one with a tie down kit.

Hi Clyde,
we have a Sunncamp Scenic Plus porch awning, ot is lightweight and very easy to put up. I would say that you could read my review of it in the product review section on the left but as it does not work Evil or Very Mad (cheers Dave) you will just have to take my word for it. It withstood hail, rain, snow and wind and did not collapse as some tend to, and at only £90 odd from towsure, I thought it was a bargain.

Clyde thats excatly what I have got it cheap at the NEC last year. Very dissapointed as it can't take the weather so well. As I said you get what you pay for. For me it started when one of the plastic rings on the guide ropes broke when we were out. The caused the awning to blow in and damaged on of the carbon fibre poles. At the same time due to weather the stitching on the ends where the poles push in to has almost gone and I've had to do a bit of patchwork to get a few more uses out of the awning.

If you wan;t a very cheap awning for good weather then they are not too bad for the price. However if you wan't one to last then spend the money on a better quality awning.

I had my full awning up at easter when we had the high winds, rain, hail, sleet and snow with a tie down. The awning didn;t budge an inch where everyone with the porch awnings were taking then down, especially the cheaper ones as they were sliding along the Caravans.

Paul

Got to agree, money buys quality.
Got a 260 cheep at the NEC last year as well.
First outing and I should of know better, the pegs (hair pins) failed. Good job I had me rock pegs with me.
Second outing the shock cord in the poles went.
Third outing wind damage to zip.

Going to run it this year and save up for a nice one in the winter or spring sales next year.

Well it would last you years if you packed it away carefully in the loft and only got it out on nice sunny weekends without any wind. Laughing
